Shotaro Ishinomori's Legend Of Zelda Comic Returns This May

Link, with the Pendant of Courage

Good news, everyone! Viz Media recently announced a reprint of Shotaro Ishinomori's classic Legend of Zelda comic originally seen in Nintendo Power! All twelve chapters will be available in a single 196-page volume set to hit shelves on May 5, 2015.

The stories and artwork comprising Ishinomori's take on A Link To The Past completely captivated me when I was younger. It served to bolster my interest in the franchise significantly. There was a balance of both playfulness and adventure, with plenty of "ooh" and "ah"-inspiring story elements in tow. It was a regular highlight of 1992's Nintendo Power issues, to be sure.

Ka-ching!

If you're unaware, Ishinomori is an absolute legend of Japanese media. He created memorable franchises such as Cyborg 009 and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, the first in the long-running Super Sentai series. To say that his work has permeated cultures the world over would be selling it short. For him to have lent his artistic voice to the Zelda series was a pretty big deal. I'm greatly looking forward to revisiting his adaptation with Viz's new collection this May.
