5 Of The Freakiest Original Ninja Turtle Action Figures

Let's be friends.

Most people around my age are likely to have had great fun with the original run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures. Given the series' overarching theme of mutation, Playmates was able to fill its toyline with all sorts of oddballs and monsters. Looking back, some of the releases were straight up disturbing. Let's stroll through memory lane and take a look at 5 of the freakiest oldschool TMNT toys!

Baxter Stockman

At face value, wickedly winged scientist Baxter Stockman is actually rather creepy. That grin is nothing short of unsettling.

Mutagen Man

I don't know how else to say it; Mutagen Man is the stuff of nightmares. Look away.

Muckman & Joe Eyeball

With a "real oozing mouth and chest," Muckman & Joe Eyeball are just really, really gross. I can't imagine how this duo of mutated garbage men must smell.

Wyrm

The same concept was used with Wyrm, whose "munchy mouth worms" make him equally revolting.

Universal Monsters The Mutant Raphael

The Universal Monsters assortments of Turtle figures are some of my favorites, and they make for a wonderful Halloween display. The Mutant Raphael from the second series is easily one of the spookiest versions of the central cast of heroes to ever be released.

Okay, enough! While I feel these five are some of the absolute standouts, there were plenty more freaky sculpts among the ranks of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' near-decade long run. Whether it's Pizzaface, Antrax, or any of the rest, feel free to hit me with your personal list of favorites in the comment section!
