The Nostalgia Bomb of Mattel's 2014 DC Universe Super Powers Assortment

Click image to view in full-size

As seen at Toy Fair 2014, the above assortment of figures is meant to be the last hurrah of the long running 6-inch DC Universe Classics toyline from Mattel and Four Horsemen Studios. At first glance, they might not appear all that special. After all, aside from Mr. Mxyzptlk, this is essentially a bunch of redecos of already frequently redecoed molds! The true beauty lies within the intent: a giant, mushy homage to Kenner's legendary Super Powers Collection toyline from the mid-80s.

New Batman Arkham Origins Toy Promo Shots

Hot off of the release of the announcement trailer for Arkham Knight, big-time toy maker-types NECA and Square Enix (under the Play Arts label) have released some absolutely gorgeous promotional shots of their upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins toys. First up is NECA's 1/4 scale (aka: a flippin' hurge 18 inches) Origins Batman, a toy which packs exquisite sculpting and over 20 points of articulation. Let's take a look at a few of the promo shots in question:

Transformers Masterpiece MP-17 Prowl Teaser Image - Level Adjusted!

Here's the new teaser for Transformers Masterpiece MP-17 Prowl recently released on Shogo Hasui's Twitter profile. The silhouette looks spot on, but ooh, it's such a tease! Fortunately, we noticed the image wasn't completely blacked out, so we decided to see how much detail might be visible with the levels adjusted. Take a look:

Optimus Prime Beast Hunters Official Toy Images

Thanks to BBTS we now have a clear look at what Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Optimus might look like. Check out images of the obligatory toy releases below, starting with Cyberverse Commander Optimus and ending with the voyager class:

Interesting stuff! Much like the other Beast Hunter toys of existing Prime characters (i.e. Wheeljack and Soundwave), Optimus is now decked out with a more battle-ready appearance. The big difference - this time the toys are entirely new. It isn't clear yet how closely these new digs will tie into the next season of Transfomers Prime - a mystery sure to keep many Transformers fans speculating in the coming weeks.

From a purely aesthetic standpoint - it looks to mash up the existing TF: Prime Optimus with some older design elements like a flat-nose cab and Star Convoy/Animated Optimus-esque windows. Nothing terribly ground-breaking, but neat all the same. Our only real issue so far - the voyager version looks a little under detailed for the price point. The super bright colors and clean surfaces seem to work against the whole "extreme" thing going on with the armored/rough and tumble re-design. Perhaps it'll look better in-hand!

The initial wave of Beast Hunters toys is set for release in early 2013. Thanks again to BBTS for the images!

Transformers Prime Predaking Robot Mode Revealed

Here it is - the robot mode of Transformers Prime voyager class Predaking from the upcoming "Beast Hunters" assortment.

The beast mode was originally revealed in October of this year but the robot mode was kept a mystery until now. The overall design is...well, neat (the orange/black color scheme is still bringing us plenty of good vibes at the very least) despite not being quite amazing enough to have been kept from us initially.

Predaking is set for release in early 2013. Thanks to BBTS for the image!

New TMNT 2012 Basic Figure Promo Shots

Here are some new promo shots for the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toyline from Playmates. These figures, including Baxter Stockman, Snakeweed, and Mutagen Ooze outfitted Turtles, are set for early 2013 release. You can click the thumbnails for larger versions:

Transformers Omega Supreme Year of the Snake Exclusive (Platinum Edition) Revealed

It was discovered some time ago that Takara Tomy's upcoming Year of the Snake exclusive Transformer would be a redeco of Energon Omega Supreme. At Hasbro's New York Comic Con 2012 Transformers Panel - that very toy has been revealed for all to see!

Although many fans snickered at the first mention of this toy - most are now eagerly anticipating its release. The toy has been retooled with a new claw-hand and head much more reminiscent of the original G1 character. The new red/silver/gold/yellow color scheme ties it altogether, giving us what is essentially a completely bad-ass Classics Omega Supreme!

Along with the Year of the Snake release from Takara Tomy, Omega will also be released by Hasbro exclusively through Amazon and Big Bad Toy Store in 2013 as a Transformers Generations: Platinum Edition figure. Rad!

Transformers Prime Predaking Official Beast Mode Reveal

In the last day or so of New York Comic Con 2012 coverage, images of the upcoming Transformers Prime voyager class Predaking toy have been floating around the interwebs, and up top on this silly, silly blog post you can see Hasbro's first official photograph of that very toy.

Glorious, no? I especially dig the outrageously Halloween-appropriate color scheme. We're going to need to see TF: Prime Dead End riding this bad boy - stat!

It's been a while since we've had a cool dragon alt mode for a Transformer, so this new take on "Predaking" is very welcome. Predaking is part of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and is set for release in 2013.

S.H. Figuarts Tyranno Ranger revealed at NYCC

From the Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA Facebook coverage of New York Comic Con we have this great look at the upcoming S.H. Figuarts Tyranno Ranger from ZyuRanger - also widely known as the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' Red Ranger!

The Tyranno Ranger is set for release in 2013 - surprise surprise, the 20th anniversary of MMPR! This figure is certainly a big deal, as it's a wonderful nod to the show that helped open up innumerable fans to the world of Super Sentai and tokusatsu in the first place.

Whether or not you're an avid collector of S.H. Figuarts or a follower of current Sentai goings-on - with this upcoming Tyranno Ranger, a tip of the hat is all too warranted. Sometimes you just have to stop and say "...cool."

Transformers Fortress Maximus Reissue Incoming!

From a new Big Bad Toy Store update we have confirmation that Takara's Transformers Encore number 23 will be none other than Fortress Maximus! Fort Max of course is famously the largest official Transformer toy yet to be made, standing 2 feet tall in robot mode. The toy originally retailed for $100 or so in 1987 upon its original release. Prices for the original in decent condition have been known to go for far, far more than that online and at fan conventions in recent years, so the new reissue price of under $400 is actually fairly refreshing.

If you've been pining for a Fortress Maximus of your own but have been simply unable to afford it - now's your chance! Release is next spring, so start saving those pennies! The April shipment will cost $349.99 - or you can grab one a month earlier for $399.99. If you have the means and need this giant bastard for your collection, this is something you may not want to miss out on. Pre-Orders are available right here on BBTS.

The Transformers Galaxy facebook page has given us this gallery of Transformers Prime deluxe Starscream, showing off some of the fun to be had with the figure. Quite a devious looking fellow! The odd "high heel" feet design and overall slender build have been controversial for some - but this CGS contributor can't wait to grab one!

Online toy shop Red Mercury has provided us with these images of the upcoming Transformers MP 11 Masterpiece Coronation Starscream from Takara Tomy. Though quite similar to the original Masterpiece Starscream, this version appears more like the original prototype, is even more "cartoon accurate", and also features the crown, cape, and shoulder pads Starscream wore in the coronation scene from 1986's Transformers: The Movie. Looks great! MP 11 Starscream is expected to arrive in March of 2012. More images are sure to show up in the meantime. We'll keep you posted!

Thanks to TFW2005 for the heads up.

New Masterpiece Ultra Magnus Concept Image

Hasui Shogo, a designer with Takara Tomy, tweeted this mighty teaser earlier today. Yeah, you're looking at early concept work for an upcoming Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, complete with transforming trailer. No plain white Optimus Prime this time - the next MP Magnus is going to have his full armor! With the excellent new MP-10 Convoy as the base, you can be sure this is going to be a toy worth checking out.

TFC Toys Hercules Transformers Constructicons Team Image

Click image to view in full size!

As seen on TFW2005 and originating from Jeffryzhong's weibo account, here's our first image of the TFC Toys Hercules team together in robot mode. These third-party Transformers Constructicons updates have sparked considerable fan interest, and it's quite a treat seeing the full team together - even if most are still only in prototype form. From left to right, the image above shows Heavy Labor, Neckbreaker, Structor, Dr. Crank, Madblender, and Exgraver. The four unreleased toys have the following release dates:

Structor: November 2011
Dr.Crank: December 2011
Neckbreaker: March 2012
Mad Blender: April 2012

It's going to take half a year for your shiny new Devastator to be complete, but not to worry - we all know time flies. We'll keep you posted on further info as it comes!

If you haven't seen them, we posted several images of the unreleased prototypes, as well as Hercules' combined mode:
