Ugly Christmas Sweaters Gone Geeky

Holiday cheer is the right of all sentient beings.

Well, here we go. The holiday season is upon us yet again. I'm more of a Halloween kind of guy, but there are at least a few elements of Christmas I can still appreciate. At the very top of the list are the festive yet disturbingly ugly sweaters adorned with tacky graphics, glitter, and bells. I'm not especially keen on wearing any, but I admire their alluring mixture of goofiness and gaudiness. It's all about the alliteration, baby.

Despite admiring these eyesores from afar, I find myself feeling more swayed than ever to actually join in on the fun. This year, the wonderful world of pop culture t-shirt stores have tapped into the realm of ugly Christmas sweaters in glorious fashion. Here are a few that have caught my eye thus far:

5 Geeky Cereals I Wish I Could Really Buy!

So, I regularly peruse pop-culture t-shirt sites like Teefury. Day in and day out, they feature incredibly awesome and eye-catching designs that homage properties or characters that I more than likely have interest in. The results are most often in the realm of "Whoa, that's cool!"

Lately, some of my favorite designs have been of fictional cereals that immediately call some of the more famous Kellog's brands to mind. I'm pop-culture obsessed enough to love cereal mascots and box art, so thrusting characters from other mediums like freakin' Iron Man into that format is totally up my alley. Here are five notable examples:

ThunderCats Picked Up for 52 Episodes

From the ThunderCatsNOW Twitter: The Art Director for the new ThunderCats cartoon, Dan Norton, has confirmed that the show has been confirmed for a 52 episode run. Episode 10 aired this past Friday, so we've got at least 42 more episodes to enjoy! Great news!

If you're a ThunderCats fan, you might want to have a cursory glance at Toys "R" Us' new ThunderCats highlight section: Sight Beyond Sight Headquarters. Currently available: trailers, coloring pages, icons, and of course - the opportunity to buy the new Bandai ThunderCats toys. TRU doesn't have the best prices for those particular bits of plastic, but for a bored fanboy, the site will give you a tiny bit of new time wasting fodder at the very least! The official ThunderCats facebook profile has been updated with three new preview images of the upcoming episode "The Book of Omens", seen above. There's lots to find out with this episode: Who is Lion-O's mysterious ancestor, and what's his relationship to Mumm-Ra? Finally, what's the story of the stones and why does Mumm-Ra want them so bad? Find out the answers to these questions and more as Lion-O journeys into the Book of Omens on an all new ThunderCats, September 2nd, 2011 at 8:30 EST on Cartoon Network!
