Spider-Man FanArt Frenzy

Spider-Man Fan Art
Look out, here comes the Spider-Man!

Ohhhh snip snap, it's time for another edition of FanArt Frenzy! In case you didn't hear, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was unsurprisingly the top earning movie in North America on its opening weekend. Ever the opportunist, I figured now was as good a time as any to feature some fanart of the old webhead. While I mentioned being glad to showcase a character from DC Comics last week with Cyborg, I'm more than happy to make Spider-Man my third Marvel feature after Captain America and Moon Knight. Enough babble, let's go ahead and thwip our way into some Spidey art:

Instagram's Ben Washy conjured up this lovely pencil rendition of the now-ubiquitous Amazing Spider-Man 2 promo shot. Nicely done!

Spider-Man villains Mysterio

Daithi Joyce PT of the Twitters delivered some much needed Mysterio love, with a bonus bit of old school Carnage. Spider-Man has quite the cast of rogues and it's nice seeing fanart cover the whole spectrum.

death of Gwen Stacy Spider-Man

So uh, this piece from JTMellecker is a bummer, but an important part of Spider-Man history all the same. It's interesting: Gwen Stacy's demise has been portrayed in fanart form more than you'd think. I'm not labeling this as a spoiler since the story was first featured in the freakin' 1970s. Come on now.

Doctor Octopus Spider-Man

Let's take the mood to a happier place with this fun cartoony take on Doctor Octopus from Tiago Holsi. I could easily see a design like this being featured in some sort of oddball Spidey cartoon and I totally love it.

Spider-Man portrait

Instagram's nekodesu30 is a promising artist that can make even a standard portrait sketch look exciting! It helps that Spider-Man has quite a rad costume design to begin with, but creating a cool portrait like this is no easy feat. There's an energetic feel to the lines that I really love, especially those that fill in the background.

Green Goblin glider

You can't do a feature on Spider-Man fanart without showcasing a bit of the Green Goblin! This is from Hannah McMullen. I like the interesting overhead perspective used here: it conveys a nice sense of motion. Green Goblin be glidin' for days.

Superior Spider-Man design

Let's close out with a sketch of the costume from Superior Spider-Man. I really like the somewhat old school art style used to portray a newer design. Check out doodlerscott on Instagram for more!

That does it for this edition of FanArt Frenzy! Be sure to follow Castle Geek-Skull on Twitter @castlegeekskull & "like" on Facebook to catch whenever the next installment hits the web! Heh, "web."
