14 Toys That Made Me Want To Break The Bank In 2014

Nyaaaah? Nyaaaaah!

Despite taking a step back from amassing action figures and other collectibles over the last few years, my interest in the hobby has remained fully intact. While staying away has obvious financial benefits, I just can't help myself from checking out all of the latest releases. There were all sorts of tempting plastic-crack goodies in 2014, so much so that I actually ended up spending some cash. Oops. Let's look at 14 toys that inspired me to do so!

I loved seeing Original Comic Book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures on store shelves this year. They aren't as swanky as the NECA versions from a few years back, but they're more than acceptable for their considerably lower price point. When I spotted this version of Raphael on the pegs of Target last month, I threw my money at it and never looked back.

Weekly Want - Sideshow Deadpool, MP Star Saber, & More!

Hey you crazy kids! It's Weekly Want time once again, so let's take a look at some of the new toy and collectible promos or newly in-stock items that graced the interwebs from the end of September through early October! Where does the time go?

The guys over at Sideshow Collectibles really know how to tease. It's not coming out until a year from now, but the Pre-Orders for their Sixth Scale Deadpool figure are now live. The hefty $230 price tag looks to be worth it given the high quality costume and elaborate variety of accessories and interchangeable parts. There are tons more pictures over on Sideshow's site, so check 'em out!

Awesome LEGO Mega Blastoise is Awesome

Bllllaaaaast

ZaziNombies LEGO Creations has created a rather beautiful LEGO build of Mega Blastoise from Pokemon X & Y. It's quite an accurate representation, even down to the shading! Check it out:

LEGO Batman 3: I'm Not Quite Convinced Yet

Batman's space suit from LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

So far, my sole experience with the LEGO video games has been playing a bit of LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. I love LEGO toys and Star Wars, so you'd think I would have had the time of my life. It was too long ago for me to give you a detailed rundown, but it turns out I just didn't have fun with it. I didn't even own the game and I only played a very early portion (based on The Phantom Menace), so I admit it was barely given a fair chance. Still, the initial "eh, whatever" impression stuck, and the LEGO video game releases that followed basically flew under my radar.

I love properties like Indiana Jones, Marvel Superheroes, and Batman, so of course I figured I'd eventually give their corresponding LEGO games a try. However, if they had any real slot on my "yeah, I'll get to that later" list it was probably pretty close to the bottom. Even after hearing many great things and seeing several fun cutscenes, I never found the spark to dive in and finally give the series another shot. After seeing tons of buzz surrounding the new LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham announcement trailer, I thought perhaps the time had finally come.

Geek-Skull's Top Ten LEGO Minifigures

When LEGO introduced its line of blind-packed Minifigures in 2010, the toy collectors of the world went buck damn wild! I initially only watched from afar, but I eventually got roped right in. Before I knew it, I was pouring over checklists and searching like mad for the latest releases. I caught the Minifigure fever.

With blindpacked toys, I prefer to grab a couple at random and see what I happen to get. I didn't see much of the same sentiment from other collectors however. Everyone knows all about the "feel test" where you grope bag after bag trying to identify which figure is inside. I once spotted a couple sitting in the floor of my local Target surrounded by what appeared to be the store's entire stock, gleefully feeling away. There's probably a dirty joke in there somewhere.

As much fun as I was having just rolling the dice, in the back of my mind I too was hoping to walk away with that one special figure. You already know this is a list post, so let's get right to it. Here are my ten favorite LEGO Minifigures (so far!)

Lego Minifigures Ride Aboard Juno Spacecraft

These Lego Minifigures of Roman god Jupiter, his sister Juno, and famous astronomer Galileo are accompanying the NASA New Frontiers Juno spacecraft on it's five year journey to Jupiter. Juno embarked today, August 5th, 2011, launching from the Kennedy Space Center at 12:25 EST. Absolutely crazy cool. Best of luck on your journey, minifigs!

Lego Minifigure Series 6 Possibly Leaked

From BrickShow.com - could these minifigs be from the upcoming Lego Minifigures Series 6? Originating from a Taiwanese website, the images could well be a factory leak. There's no confirmation yet, but if you're a Lego fan, consider this a possible look at things to come!
