Twitter Reminds Me Of Oldschool Myspace in the Best Way

star wars chewbacca
How could I possibly say no?

When Myspace was still huge back in 1812 (ooh, such original and scathing commentary!) my favorite aspect of it was not in listening to low quality music uploads or keeping up with anyone I actually knew. I had much more fun filling my friend list with endless parody accounts.

There were many wonderfully bored individuals spending their time creating entire Myspace profiles under the guise of characters like Batman, Leon Kennedy, and even freakin' David Lo Pan. It was actually pretty amusing. Even better? More and more began to send me friend requests over time. Aww, shucks. It was a blast while it lasted.

It's not something I ever thought I'd say, but Twitter is actually reminding of Myspace these days. Rest assured, if there's a character or personality you like, you'll often find someone essentially roleplaying as them for all to see. Let's check out a few of my recent finds!

How the "Game Grumps" Moved Me To Tears

This should really require no introduction. Game Grumps, initially the collaboration of popular Youtubers Egoraptor and JonTron (now Egoraptor and Danny Sexbang, who also swap co-hosting duties with Rubber Ninja on the channel's Steam Train installment), is easily one of Youtube's most beloved gaming channels. For the two people who may be in the dark, Game Grumps features daily gameplay videos with some of the most ludicrously fun commentary you'll find anywhere. Since its debut in the summer of 2012, its popularity has only grown, with more and more people becoming absolutely hooked on stopping by each day to enjoy the latest ten-minute chunks of gameplay. At the time of this writing, the Game Grumps channel has close to 1,500,000 subscribers.

My Neighbor Tatt-oro: Six of the Best Studio Ghibli Tattoos!

It is no secret that everyone loves Studio Ghibli. Some folks love it so much that they want to carry a little piece of it with them wherever they go; even to the grave. I'm talking of course about Studio Ghibli-inspired tattoos! Here are six of the best ones I could find online:

"I Hope Dark Souls II Owns My Ass"

Prepare yourselves: March 11, 2014 brings us the release of Dark Souls II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2011 Namco action role-playing game that captured the hearts of gamers everywhere with it's enchantingly dark atmosphere, engaging level design, and famously brutal yet rewarding difficulty. Naturally, the latter is often at the forefront of any Dark Souls-based conversation. Any time the game is mentioned online, someone is sure to pop up with a "You Died" gif or rage comic of some sort.

How Twitter Helped Me Fall in Love with Kenner Toys All Over Again

This is also the title of a new show I'm pitching.

From the Star Wars toys of the late 1970s to all-things Batman in the mid-90s, Kenner Toys produced heaps and heaps of awesome action figures that kept millions of kids (and kids-at-heart) entertained. No matter your interest, be it comic books, cartoons, sports, or even movies you probably shouldn't have been watching just yet, Kenner likely had several product lines that were right up your alley.

Choose wisely!

If you haven't checked out the existing figures, they're pretty damn swell, particularly Piccolo. Amazon still has them in-stock if you're interested in taking the plunge:

Troop Building...IS IT MYTH?

When toy collectors buy up tons of the same generic "soldier" toy to amass an army, like say an A.I.M. Soldier, this is the fine art of troop building...or "army building." This is often an impressive sight. Wanting to marvel at the displays of toy addicts wealthy and patient enough to buy 500 storm troopers and line em up in pretty little cannon fodder rows, I did an image search for troop building. Much to my dramatically over-reacted disdain, all I got was shit like this:

Sigh. I suppose some of the images are perhaps vaguely related. You COULD troop build that Bayformer-y Insecticon from the first two results, but it's still only a picture of ONE. And a fucking dog? I love dogs, but what the hell? THAT IS NOT A PICTURE OF ONE THOUSAND COBRA TROOPERS.

I realize I should have simply changed my search to an even more specific term to get the "right" results, but man, troop building is a pretty common term for what I want. GIVE ME WHAT I WANT. ARGH. It's as if the fact that people make armies of little 4 inch dudes is trying to be covered up somehow. CONSPIRACY. I will fight this madness, and I will win.

Internet, I am disappoint. Disappoint so hard. I am faux-rage for the sake of blogging about *something*, to insane degrees never known before. Die.

The Face of Knowing

That face.

That is the face one makes when they know what's going on. Apparently.

X-Entertainment's Halloween Countdown

X-Entertainment has always been my favorite website. It has helped fuel my love for all things pop culture and profuse love of Halloween throughout the last decade. Positivity is contagious. The sheer excitement found in X-E's Halloween countdowns, which tend to start a month early, have certainly made a lasting impression on me. I've discussed it elsewhere on the interwebs in the past, but Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday. I don't do much to celebrate it, but I adore the mood of the "season" itself and going around looking at tacky decorations of shrunken heads and light-up skeletons is a joy. If this blog were worth a shit, or even a half shit, it would be more like X-Entertainment, especially during the Septembery/Octobery portion of the year. However, I lack the tenacity and resources. Maybe one day! Until then, if you care about Halloween, please check out the X-E Halloween Countdown, already in progress: CLICKETH ME

Internet Ads - Stealth Lulz

Anyone that pays attention to the tons of ads they encounter whilst browsing online knows it all too well - there is much hilarity to be found.

My latest finding:

The faces. The framing. Isn't the right side of this image cropped in just the right way to seem incredibly suggestive?

...yeesh
